Possible extensive physical and psychological dependence could result from extensive use of the medication as well.

There is a risk of toxic psychosis. When used constantly it can cause one’s body to get used to a steady intoxication level that could make life unbearable. Taking the medication for some short duration span, like one week, and abruptly ceasing can result in several withdrawal symptoms, some of which include:

  • Insomnia
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Irritability

To avoid falling into the trap of addiction to Lorazepam, it is always advisable for one to follow the doctor’s prescription advice without skipping any dose whatsoever. This drug is very effective if only used within the proper context, but trouble arises when one abuses the medication by not using in the way it was intended. Lorazepam addiction can be circumvented by keeping the correct group of friends around you.

It is estimated that most drug problems arise when one has friends who also take the Lorazepam. One may stay safe by always staying far from people who are hooked on the substance, as peer pressure may also cause them to get into the abusive behavior as well.
